Shingle Style Lodging

This new family room is affectionately called “the lodge” in reference to its nineteenth-century hunting lodge inspiration. We inherited the fireplace and exterior shell—an unfinished ell original to the house—and designed the interior architecture. Warm tones and dark woods were our palette, and governed everything from the structural trusses to the fireside settee. We used a minimum of ornamentation in this informal room, allowing the character of the natural materials to shine.
